Namaste
(Greetings) from Nepal!
Welcome to Nepal. We are very much curious and dedicated
to assist your trip to the land of Mt. Everest, birthplace
of apostle of Peace-Lord Buddha and land of mysterious
animal Yeti. Serenely nestled against the backdrops
of magnificent mass of the Himalayan ranges, Nepal
is a sovereign State sandwiched between two large
republics, south of Chinese held –Tibet and
on three sides surrounded by India. It has got 147,181
sq. km of territory with a population of 23.5 million.
Nepal is the only Hindu country in the world, and
also known as a birth place of Lord Buddha “The
Prince of Peace and The Light of Asia”. The
images of Hindu and Buddhist Gods are worshiped everyday
specially in the morning as a way of daily life in
Nepal. All religion is free to worship without any
dispute or quarrel. Such-and- such kind of religious
tolerance, peace and harmony is not found anywhere
in the world.
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal, and most of
the cultural and religious centers are concentrated
around Kathmandu valley. Nepal enjoys 8 World Heritage
Sites (cultural) rewarded by UNESCO namely Soyambhunath,
Baudhanath, Kathmandu Darbar Squire Bhaktapur Durbar
Squire, Patan Darbar Squire Changunarayan, Pashupathinath,
and Lumbini, the other 2 (natural) World Heritage
Sites are Everest (1148 sq. km) and Royal Chitwan
National Parks (932 sq. km), which are the most enjoyable
place for the visitors.
Foreigners were not allowed to enter its territory
until five decades before and virtually nothing
was known about the people and civilization. Nepal
is bestowed since ancient time by numerous Gods
and Goddesses.
We have a living King as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu
as well as baby child from Shkya family called “Kumari”
to whom all Nepali people respect and worship....
Sir Edmund Hillary, a tall looking gentleman from
New Zealand prepared himself to pack cargos of several
mountaineering equipments, food, medicine and necessary
outfits and came to Kathmandu. Next morning, he
seemed to look a bit serious and started to check
his goods thoroughly in the hotel ground one by
one comparing his list not to miss anything for
the expedition. He thought a moment and whispered
“Everything is right” and well packed
the goods again to reopen those things at the base
camp of the highest mountain for final climbing.
One fine morning after completing all the government
facilities, he said good bye to Kathmandu and began
his long hard journey on foot via Jiri accompanied
by his courageous team to fulfill his burning desire
in order to climb Mt. Everest (8848m), the roof
of the world. He stepped his human foot on the top
of the world together with his friend Tenzing Sherpa
of Nepal on 29th May 1953. The conquest of Everest
for the first time in the history heralded the sensational
news worldwide through different media, opening
the new era of tourism in Nepal. A crowning glory
for the country was accomplished which highlighted
the existence of Nepal as well as its art and architecture,
culture and nature, religion and festival, temple
and monastery with other major tourist attractions.
The victory of man over Everest was the golden message
to the world, which was a good opportunity and the
beginning of worldwide tourism market to promote
Nepal.
Likewise Junko Tabei of Japan also created the
name and fame of womanhood stepping her first foot
climbing on the roof of the world in the year 1975.
As time rolled on and among others, the past state
visits of world personalities like Queen Elizabeth
II and President Heinrich Luebke to Nepal added
the friendly and cultural relations between the
nations. The holiday vacation of the first lady
Hillary Clinton made another charming media coverage
around the world on the threshold of brand- new-
millennium.
